Add new content area to course menu
1. Once you are in Blackboard, select a course. You will begin at your course entry point, which by default is the Course Homepage page. The Course Homepage is the announcements page renamed.
2. Make sure Edit Mode is On.
3. On the course menu, click the plus icon at the top left.
4. Choose Content Area from the drop down menu.
5. Enter the name of the new content area (For example, Course Documents, or Syllabus).
6. Click on the Available to Users checkbox if this content area should be seen by students.
7. Click Submit.
Add a Web Link on the course menu

Click on the “+” at the top of the course menu.

Choose Web Link.

Type in the name you would like to show on the menu.

Enter the URL for the web link.

Check the box for Available to Users if you want students to see this link.

Click Submit.
Add Tool Link on the course menu

Click on the “+”
-
Select Tool Link.
-
Name the link.
-
Choose the appropriate tool from the Type drop-down.

Check the box Available to Users if you would like to show this link to students.

Click Submit.
Create content Containers and Content
Add files to content area
In a content area, like the Course Home Page:
1. Select Build Content.
2. Choose File from the menu.
3. Name your file in the text box
4. Select either Browse Local Files or Browse Content Collection to find the file. Click OK when you have selected the file in the pop-up window.
5. Click Submit.
Add an Item to the content area
7. You may also add an Item from the Build Content menu. This will just be a title and text of which you may add attachments and availability.
8. Assessments and Assignments can be added from the Assessments menu.
9. Discussion boards, blogs, journals, wiki's and many others may be found in the Tools section.
Add Weblink to content area

Select Build Content.

Choose Web Link on the menu.

Type in the name you would like to show students.

Enter the URL for the web link.

Optional: Add a description to the link.

Click Submit
Add Tool Link to content area

Click on the “+”
-
Select Tool Link.
-
Name the link.
-
Choose the appropriate tool from the Type drop-down.

Check the box Available to Users if you would like to show this link to students.

Click Submit.
